Sub Pop’s Jonathan Poneman and Bruce Pavitt are to give a keynote interview. Hosted by music journalist Everett True, the Sub Pop session will explore how the record label signed bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mudhoney. Key players in the heyday of the grunge movement, the owners of Sub Pop sold a 49% stake of the label to Warner Music Group In 1995.
Fellow Seatle-based operation KEXP will also be present at ESNS, with the international radio station hosting several of its live sessions during the festival, with performances and interviews from emerging and established artists.
The conference, which takes place from 18-21 January, will also feature speakers including Access All Areas editor Christopher Barrett, A Greener Festival CEO Claire O’Neill, Lowlands Festival director Eric van Erdenburg and Music Venue Trust CEO Mark Davyd.
