Alpha Strategy is a Czech-Canadian band whose sound can best be described as a blend of post-punk and noise-rock, regularly being compared to The Birthday Party, The Jesus Lizard, and Gilla Band. Alpha Strategy has worked with esteemed engineer Steve Albini on three of their records at his Electrical Audio studio, including "Staple My Hand to Yours" released in 2023.
Although consisting of typical rock components (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) Alpha Strategy does not strictly adhere to traditional song concepts, and enjoys getting carried away into noisy territories, disharmonies, and atonalities, which they merge with punk speed and straightforwardness. Live performances often take on wild and unhinged characteristics, as frontman Rory Hinchey, with dancing/movements compared to those of John Travolta, throws himself in all directions - it's not uncommon for Hinchey to climb on bar furniture or crawl on all fours on the ground. In relation to their concerts, the band as a whole ascribes to the commandment put forth by Captain Beefheart, "you should play like a drowning man, struggling to reach shore."
