He studied composition at the Prague Conservatory under Eduard Douša and accordion under Ladislav Horák. During his studies he received several prizes from accordion competitions in the Czech Republic, Croatia and Slovakia. He continued his studies at the Composition Department of HAMU in the composition class of Ivana Loudová. During his studies he participated in several composition courses under the guidance of Martin Smolka, Yevgeny Irsai, Wolfgang Riehm. He regularly collaborates with composers in the creation of new compositions for accordion. His research in the field of new sound and performance possibilities of the accordion is summarised in the publication New timbre possibilities of the accordion in the context of modern instrumentation. His compositions have been performed at concerts and festivals in the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Croatia, China, Serbia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Japan. In 2014, Radio Beograd broadcast a programme dedicated to his accordion works.
Recently he has been focusing on intermedia projects. For several years he has been collaborating with photographer and designer Michal Hór Horáček and choreographer Dana Pala. Together they created the full-length intermedia works elementhis! (2011), Materia (2013), Mystique of Smell (2014), Elementhis! Metamorphosis (2016), La Mar (2016), Razzle Dazzle (2018), Golem (2018) and the installation Razzle Dazzle (2019). In 2013, together with Hanuš Axmann, he composed the music for the performance Unbearable Weddings (Krum) for the Vinohrady Theatre.
His works are predominantly instrumental acoustic works, or works with electronica. Among the performers of his compositions are the guitar duo Siempre Nuevo, the dulcimerist Daniel Skála, the cellist Petr Nouzovský, the clarinetists Karel Dohnal, Hanuš Axmann, Anna Paulová, the Cantarina Clarinete Quartet, Ensemble MoEns, Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, Ensemble Nipponia, the South Bohemian Philharmonic, etc. He regularly collaborates with the Berg Chamber Orchestra and the ensemble of the composers' association Konvergence.
He is currently teaching at the Prague Conservatory (accordion department) and at the Jan Deyl Conservatory (composition, music theory). Since 2015 he has been representing the Czech Republic in the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes, an organization under UNESCO.
